She is about a week old.  She was born 5 weeks premature, with all kinds of things wrong with her.  She also had a lung collapse the other day.  Her esophagus doesn't connect to anything.  The surgeon believes he can fix that without breaking her breastbone (which is often necessary).  She was born with no rectum.  But God is already working.  Monday or Tuesday, a bunch of men from their church prayed over little Svana, and Tuesday evening she had a bowel movement.  Her granddaddy, who is pastor of the local Assemblies of God Church, said, "I don't care if I am a Christian and a minister, the first doctor who says the earlier statement was a misdiagnosis gets my fist in his face!"

Svana's great-grandparents are retired Nazarene missionaries, from Chile.  I think I may have mentioned them before; they went to Chile for the 100th year celebration of the denomination, and were showered with great honor.

Update:
Svana has had one surgery, and due for another.  She had a leak from her esophagus, and they repaired that.  It was playing havoc with her lungs.  But after that repair, they found there is still a leak somewhere.  Her lungs have both collapsed alternately.  After the first repair, the lung that had failed reinflated, but then the other collapsed.

Well it's good to hear she is still with us.

Praying that she gets better.

Nothing new lately.  She is on a machine to assist or do the work of her lungs and heart, until things heal up.

Another miracle!  Svana was being prepared for surgery to get her lungs reinflated, and they started reinflating and working on their own.  Surgery cancelled!

Svana's condition has fluctuated quite a bit, up and down.  The last I heard, her trachea had collapsed.  And the doctor said she has no more reserve to fight her condition.  Her grandfather said, "But we have a great reserve, in God."

Svana is probably a child who should have died - I know no one likes to think that - but I think God is perhaps keeping her alive to show the doctors a thing or two!

I don't have any thing specific about Svana - but that she is improving!

I think God does that a lot.  Sometimes a doctor actually realizes it, too!

Amen!  She had another surgery (I don't know what) this week, and is still improving.  This is the child whom the doctors said had no reserve left!
