I've got it figured out so I can have the best of both worlds.

Svana was in church today (not my church).  She is going to be dedicated to the Lord next Sunday.  I'm sure her parents have already dedicated her to Him in their hearts.

Svana needs some kind of back surgery; I don't know the details, but I understand that it is something that if she has it as an infant, she will have to have it again when she is older.

More on Svana's back surgery.  It's not imminent - not sure how soon.  The pastor said tonight that she will only have to have one surgery instead of two.  I don't know if that refers to the second surgery they said she would need when she got older, or whether there were originally planned two surgeries for the same time frame.  I'm wondering if possibly it means they can delay the  surgery long enough that it will eliminate the need for the second surgery.

Svana is going to need surgery on her esophagus in a couple of weeks.  There are some kind of growths (pastor couldn't remember what they were called) at the site of the previous surgery.  She is back on full tube feeding, because she couldn't swallow very well, or without pain.

I think the surgery is supposed to be November 9.

I guess it was exactly surgery, but a "procedure" - to stretch her esophagus.  She is doing well.

I got a picture today in a Christmas card.  I would post it here if they were (my) family, or if I had permission, but since neither is the case, I'll just describe it.  In the back standing, left to right, is a young gentleman (I don't even know his first name), his wife Rachel, Rachel's mother Carolyn, and her father John.  Sitting on a love seat in front are Carolyn's parents, Neva and Boyd.  In Neva's lap is Rachel's daughter - Svana.  I know Neva & Boyd very well, they come to our church on Sunday evenings; they are retired Nazarene missionaries.

After her back surgery, Svana had fluid from her spine go to her brain.  Not sure of what they had to do to relieve it, but she is expected to be in the hospital for another 10-20 days.

Svana had another surgery, and is doing well.  Even with all the medical procedures, her life is still a miracle from God.
